Goals

As the director responsible for overall management of the entire organisation, Verity was in effect both sponsor and client of the coaching programme. The outcomes for the programme were devised through discussion between her and the coach. This discussion was focused through the use of a tailored questionnaire relating to Verity’s professional values.  Five goals were identified.   

1. Increase flexibility of leadership styles. 
2. Restructure management of the organisation.
3. Develop new sources of income
4. Improve organisational performance through enhanced monitoring systems and more effective teamwork.
5. Realign the organisation’s relationships with other similar organisations to enhance its effectiveness. 

Actual Outcomes
 
Verity developed a much wider range of leadership styles, particularly at the more authoritative end of the spectrum. She restructured the management of the organisation, with the appointment of a senior executive and a change in role for another. A new approach to performance measurement and monitoring was established from scratch and worked well from the start. A system of monthly team meetings was set up to improve communication both horizontally and vertically, to enhance teamwork and to generate measurable action points.   

The organisation set up a serviced office activity from scratch for some 30 users. This is expected to be a significant source of income for the organisation.

The organisation’s relationships with other similar organisations were renegotiated, resulting in fewer external constraints on Verity’s management.
